I know I have been absent here..I read many posts. I have some questions- I had my THR 4/2009 after breaking my hip in an accident and then having it pinned only to fail. 2 years out now I have a Depuy (not a recalled one says ortho) and excersise is causing me back pain. Started yoga and...

    Seven weeks out... Tomorrow

Thanks guys- and CONGRATS TAHOE!! I saw my OS today and he lifted all restrictions. That's great except that I still can't do much. He said it would hurt and to try to exercise..Ha! I think they are just leary of giving out pain meds? I have no history of any abuse or anything..didn't overuse...

    Seven weeks out... Tomorrow

I too am at 7 weeks. I see my OS Thursday and am back to work but I work from home sitting. I feel a "pop" deep in my hip when at PT. And it feels "itchy" somewhat deep inside. My OS also pulled me off all pain meds and I hardly sleep at all at night. Mine hurts mostly when I lift it from laying...

    6 weeks, err, 5 weeks post-op

That sounds AMAZING! Because I felt like I was hit by a truck when I came out of surgery and my leg was huge! I hated the morphine and all the side effects but I had to use it.

That does it! I am getting pictures of all my xrays! How cool! When he did the needle he compared my hips first to make sure I wasn't just built that way lol...When I lay on my side I think I can feel mine. I can also feel it "pop" kinda like a normal hip when I relax it and swing my leg back...

swelling and pain 3/1/2 months post op

I bought an industrial ice pack from my PT- it's heavy and big. I toss it in a billowcase and it's a no mess no fuss solution. All the others leaked and or would sweat. I am still taking about 2-3 pain meds a day though. Just 5 mg lortabs but surely can still do that at 4 weeks po. Yep- made it...

    6 weeks, err, 5 weeks post-op

It was horrible- the needle thing..He was squeezing it and jabbing it like I was having lipo! I didn't look at all until he was finished. I did watch my husband's face though and he was white as a ghost! AND- he only got a tiny amount of fluid. It was just swollen. My suggestion: Ice before OS...

I agree, Scott- do as you are told! My last OS visit I had to wait 2.5 hrs to see him and when he did come in and the removed staples and then he took that huge NEEDLE and piked around trying to get fluid out I just wanted to leave..as fast as I could! I can drive this week, as of today and can...

    Continuing Complications

OMG John! I am ashamed that you have been treated like this after serving for our country. I have spent the last hour reading through your story like a book quickly turning the pages. Where do you stand now? I am only 3 wk po from LTHR and hear that infection is something to really watch. Once...

    Returning to work

I'm going back this coming week at 4 wks po. I work from home just sitting. Dr first said 12 weeks but now he said OK..so just keep asking if you feel up to doing your job I would think. Fresh out of surgery I would think ANY os would say No at first. I know..these are old posts and prob...

Wow, Kangaroo..I could go well beyond 90 and have been able to shortly after surgery- we just aren't supposed to until we heal properly. Im sure Jo will look at this and get you a good answer. What kind of parts did you get?

How long should I use the raised toilet seat?

I have a high seat on our guest bath so I can use it easily but still have the raised one in my bath just because of the handles and being able to get up just in case. I would think as long as you are observing dr orders and if they lifted 90 then you could ditch it..but in my paperwork it says...

I'm so happy to hear you're having a good day too, Cat! I think the "detached" feeling I was having yesterday probably was from no PT for over a week.

newbie-43 thr 3 weeks post op

Hi everyone! Went to PT today and took my list. She said all restrictions until 3-6 mo and to ask OS at my 8 wk visit. So..stuck with pillow. I really didn't expect to lose it at 3 wk po. I used cane a bunch today and she did tell me not to go solo without assistance until cleared to do so. She...

newbie-43 thr 3 weeks post op

Wow, Monique! I can only imagine! When I was 11 I fell out of a tree and broke both arms. Had surgery on left one twice and all is ok now. Then at 43 I break my hip. All the time in between has been pretty uneventful!
