    8 weeks Knee Swollen

Knee high....the trouble is you would think I would totally remember the first but I don't seem to...but I think the pain was worse with this one and obviously I guess the size of my leg seems to me to be more but the healing and bend is good I'm at about 110. I'll just have to persevere with...

    8 weeks Knee Swollen

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. The reason I stopped the icing was because I thought when the bad pain had simmered down that I probably didn't need to keep icing. I now have to decide when I read your various responses...ice or heat or both. I guess I'll do both and see which one seems...

    8 weeks Knee Swollen

I had my second tkr Jan 27 2010. The pain is not bad. Mostly when I walk on it too much or sit for too long. The issue I have a question about, is that it is still very enlarged (swollen). Should it be at this stage? I honestly can't remember how the first one was. Will it still be of any use to...

4 Weeks since 2nd tkr TIRED!!!!

Well it's been 4 weeks and I've posted other threads re the results of my 2nd experience. The pain was a definite problem but it is settling down. This issue now is that I am so weak and fatigued most of the time. Yes my hemoglobin is in the 92-95 range and I tried taking iron orally for it but...

RTKR Last week 27 Jan 2010

Hey Linda2 ...It is so "funny" (not funny) to hear you say what you did about wanting to hit some of these people. At one point I said to my husband, it would be so just if some of these doctors themselves HAD to have their knee done. It's one thing to do the surgery and I have no fault with him...

RTKR Last week 27 Jan 2010

Well it is one week ago I had my second and RTKR. It's difficult to totally compared with the L one done Jan 2009. However, it seems this one must have needed a lot more manipulation than the other one. The bruising is a lot worse this time and there is definitely more pain involved especially...

    2 Days To Go

Well, on Wed. Jan 27th I'm going to have my RTKR done. I had the Left one done last Jan. 2009. Things went fairly smooth as things go??? My physio went well. Sometimes I worry that I'm going to expect everything to be the same but maybe it won't. I know worry doesn't help anything. I need to...

2nd knee to be done soon

I should have said when I wrote about the 2nd knee being done that the first one I had done was made easier from all that I read beforehand about making sure I do physio faithfully and making sure I had pain meds and about keeping a journal so I could see the progress I had made. If it wasn't...

2nd knee to be done soon

Hi All...While I've kept in touch via reading....I haven't posted much lately. I recently heard my date for my 2nd (right) knee to be done on Jan. 27,2010. I am glad it will be done as I had my left tkr done Jan. 2009 and the right one's been bad. The L one is great that I had done. The only...

    aftermath of tkr

To Backbay38....I am hoping that the M.S. clinic does have the latest and perhaps some relief. My sleeping is the pits. I was to the clinic 2 years ago but didn't have the severe leg pain and jerking and at that time they didn't suggest anything different for me. I find out 2 years later that it...

    aftermath of tkr

Hi again....thanks for all your prayers. RickB...I looked up the med you mentioned and while it may have done some good I know from prev. conversations with my PCP she would not give it to me because of the "possible side effects" mentioned. There would be some concern because of other medical...

    aftermath of tkr

Thanks Judles.....My OS said actually to go to an M.S. clinic instead of a Neurologist as they specialize in only M.S. I thought coming from a specialist and what he said made sense. Hence getting in to the clinic. Hopefully they'll know the latest. Jerks and pain do not respond to pain meds...

    aftermath of tkr

Hi...For the most part my recovery of the first of 1 tkr was very good. Op was Jan. 16th and my rom is 115. However, and I know this is a little of the knee topic; I have M.S. and seemingly because of the trauma probably I now have extreme leg jerks and pain in leg. Actually some but not much in...

5+weeks post op and still the pain

Thanks so much for your comments and help. I should tell you I was at my 4 wk visit with os and mentioned where the pain was and he told me the same thing I believe Max said ....that they had straighted my leg and so that's probably why the pain was there. My pt has also seen it and said it is...

5+weeks post op and still the pain

Hi...I'm getting a bit (more) frustrated. I fully expected pain post op and handled it with meds etc. Was doing well at pt.Am now at 105 rom BUT at times the pain started diminishing somewhat so I stretched the time between when I took my dilaudid. Took some tyl. 3 inbetween. I don't know though...

    My recovery timeline

re my warfarin....yes the nurse comes in twice a week to take blood and check. Apparently it was low because the dr. has upped it. Thanks for the info re rom.

    My recovery timeline

I was wondering also about the importance of rom....what is the usual or normal before the tkr. I had the left tkr done Jan 16 2009 2weeks plus 2days. the last rom was 95 and my pt said it was good. I know she said something about 120. Does that mean that's what it needs to absolutely be? And...
