    THR Pain with walking

I just thought I would get some opinions from other members before going to see the surgeon.

    THR Pain with walking

I had my hip replaced about 3 or 4 years ago. Lately, if I turn quickly or not so quickly to my left, like getting out of the drivers side of the car, I can't put my leg backwards when walking. It goes forward just fine but I find myself bending forward when walking so I don't have to bend my...

Bilateral THR So, what now? Three years later and so it goes on and on

Yes, they have ruled that out as my pain "spots" are almost consistent with where my twisty ties are and the top spot is lower than where trochanteric bursitis would be. My doctor that put the wires in, said that they were a permanent thing. I told him that I didn't think so, anything that goes...

Bilateral THR So, what now? Three years later and so it goes on and on

Nanamac, you are almost where I am. I have 6 cerclage wires. I keep complaining that it's the "twisty ties" where they wires meet is where all my pain is. I was offered gabapentin on top of oxyconting and oxycodone. He also wanted me to think about prolotherapy where they inject a sugary...

Bilateral THR So, what now? Three years later and so it goes on and on

Nanamac, I had also given up on being on this forum as I was also feeling resentful for all the YIPEE's. I really didn't want any of the new people to be scared away by my story. Can I join your pity party? I still have wires and the doctor wasn't willing to discuss them until one year has...

    Class of 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015 Hippies

I had my LTHR at the end of May last year. I split the femur in the beginning of July and had to have a bone graft with 6 wires holding it together. The wires are still bothering the heck out of me and I'm still taking my oxy's. I have pain below the butt cheek when walking and femur pain when...

THR Need a friend who has been on the other side of a late infection

If you are scared to death of the aspiration, you can ask the doctor to prescribe something to calm/relax you. I was faced with an aspiration at one time. I told the doctor that I was scared and wouldn't let them do it. He offered me all kinds of drugs to almost knock me out. I still declined...

    THR Second THR questions

Mine fractured a few weeks after the surgery. I have 6 wires around the femur. My healing has been very slow and discouraging. I still have a lot of pain in my femur, mostly in the back part of the femur and the wires are chewing their way out. I'm still on narcotics.

    Hello, it's done!

Back in 1980 when I was 22, I had some osteotomies on my femur and on my pelvis trying to get more coverage on the ball. The pelvis got osteomyelitis. I was in and out of the hospital for a year and 4 months. 6 weeks of IV antibiotics, surgeries to clean out the infection and a few days to maybe...

    THR My Journey begins

I took my son's stool that he uses to play the guitar. It works great in the bathroom. My hair is long and thick as well and it does take a bit to dry it. If you have any bar stools they work very well.

THR Going backwards and not in a good way

I've had my thigh bone split almost in half but not an avulsion fracture. I hope you have good luck with it!

    Struggling, femur puncture, dizzy, nauseous

My femur split 3 weeks after the surgery. I really don't have anything good to say that would cheer you up. I'm still working on trying to get past it myself. Did they wire your femur? My wires feel like they are working their way from the inside out. I wish you better luck than I'm having.

    THR Crash and burn

Thank you Suki, Poppet, Chris and Dorothy. I seem to be having another one of those "off" days again. I went to my last scheduled PT this morning and told him that I quit. I don't see any improvements lately. I will continue my exercises at home. The doctor had mentioned having PT measure me for...

    THR Crash and burn

I went to see the doctor today. "Everything looks good so I will see you in 6 months." Great. He said that he didn't want to do anything until everything was well healed in 6 months. So I guess in the mean time I will continue with my oxycontin twice a day and my oxycodone for the next 6 months...

    Approach?

I also had the anterior approach and had no problems with the incision. My recovery, however, was messed up when 3 weeks into my rehab, the femur fractured. Would I have the anterior approach if I were to have surgery again? You bet I would!
